Yakuza Series Will Officially Be Known As Like A Dragon Going Forward

SEGA has announced that the Yakuza franchise will be known as Like A Dragon going forward in an effort to bring the series closer to its Japanese title.

Speaking to Digital Trends, a representative for SEGA of America commented: “I can confirm the series will be known as “Like a Dragon” moving forward to more closely align with the Japanese name.:

The Yakuza title was only adopted for western regions, as in Japan the series is known as Ryu Ga Gotoku, which when translated into English means Like A Dragon. However, the narrative has shifted away from focussing mainly on the exploits of the Japanese Yakuza, and so it makes sense that SEGA would want to rename the franchise.
