Yankees vs. Astros schedule: Complete dates, times, TV channels for 2022 ALCS games

It took a lot of fighting tooth and nail, but the New York Yankees finally advanced past the Cleveland Guardians.

They advanced in five games and will play the Houston Astros, who handled the Mariners in three in a sweep. Despite an 18-inning marathon Game 3 against Seattle, Houston comes into the series far more well-rested, as the Yankees will play Game 1 about 24 hours from the final out of the ALDS due to it being postponed from Monday to Tuesday from rain.

For the Yankees, the hope is revenge. They were obviously a victim of the Astros’ 2017 World Series run, which is now one of the most controversial titles in recent memory. They then lost in the ALCS again to the Astros in 2019, so this one is undoubtedly personal for Aaron Boone and company.

For the Astros, meanwhile, it’s their sixth straight trip to the ALCS as they look to punch their second straight ticket to the World Series. The 106-win Astros play host to the Yankees in Game 1 and 2.

Yordan Alvarez was arguably the best player in all of baseball during the divisional round, hitting a pair of home runs, including the three-run walk-off homer in Game 1 that crushed the spirit of the upstart Mariners. Alvarez then hit a go-ahead homer in Game 2 off of Luis Castillo that gave the Astros a 2-0 lead in the series before they won 1-0 in Game 3’s 18-inning affair.

On New York’s side, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton came alive in the back half of the series against the Guardians. They both hit homers in the first two innings of Game 5 to propel the Yankees to this point. The top of the Yankee order will have to be similarly effective if they’re going to have a shot against the vaunted Astros.

The numbers listed above are the cheapest ticket options. The ALCS is a stark contrast to the NLCS this year. The Yankees and Astros are two teams who more or less expect to be here, and despite that making their fanbases no less passionate, it does make them a bit more numb to making it this deep. The average ticket price is $560, a little over half of the $1,016 average NLCS ticket.
