Surprising no one, Google recently announced plans to shut down Stadia, its ambitious but underwhelming cloud gaming service. While it’s a shame things didn’t work out, the main concern users have had in the meantime is what will happen to their purchased games and save data. Fortunately, some developers are making it possible to rescue your saves and revive them on alternate platforms, and that now includes Cyberpunk 2077.
CD Projekt RED has outlined the process here. It’s quite convoluted, but it’s now possible to migrate your save data from Stadia to PC. From there, you’re also able to sync it up with consoles, including PS5 and PS4. To do so, you’ll need to use Google Takeout to download your save to your computer, then open a GOG account if you don’t already have one, boot up the game on PC, enable cross-platform saves, load up your data, and save once again. This should then be accessible on your console version.
Again, CD Projekt RED’s page on this provides the full method in much more detail, so if you’re planning to retrieve your Stadia save, that’s where to go. Will you be doing this to keep your progress in Cyberpunk 2077? Tell us in the comments section below.
