Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the best-selling games of all time. GTA Online, the live-service counterpart of its single-player version, is one of the most-played multiplayer games at the moment.

As such, it’s no surprise that Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto Online has been ported to multiple systems over the year, something that has become quite the meme within the industry. But are GTA 5 and GTA Online available on Nintendo Switch?

Sadly, as mentioned above, GTA 5 and GTA Online are not currently available to play on Nintendo Switch. This may be surprising to many since the game was originally released on PS3 and Xbox 360, two consoles that are technically inferior (or equivalent) to the Nintendo Switch.

This feels absurd especially since GTA Online is readily available on almost all modern home console like the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Will GTA 5 ever come to Nintendo Switch?

Sadly, there’s no concrete detaill on whether GTA 5 or GTA Online would ever release on the Nintendo Switch or not. Unfortunately, there also hasn’t been any hints from Rockstar Games nor any rumors or leaks that would suggest otherwise.

However, Rockstar Games had put some of their big AAA titles on Nintendo Switch in the past, like L.A. Noire and the more recent Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, so there’s always a possibility that its most successful live-service title would show up on it someday.

In its financial report of Q1 2023, Nintendo revealed that the Switch had sold over 111 million units, making it one of the best-selling consoles of all time. Interestingly, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick had also discussed in the past how successful some of Rockstar Games’ titles on Switch had been.

While this doesn’t mean Rockstar Games would target Switch for their future releases, there’s always a possibility that some older titles (like GTA 5) would make their way into the hands of this handheld’s growing audience.

And that’s everything you need to know about GTA 5 on Nintendo Switch.
