With the VCT Stage 2 Masters fast approaching, it’s time to take a look at the competition in Copenhagen and see which teams have the best shot at winning.
Twelve teams from seven distinct regions will be battling for the trophy and the bragging rights that come along with it, but only one will be crowned the winner at the end of the tournament.
Whether you’re a fan of esports who is simply looking for some quality entertainment, or an esports betting punter on the hunt for top-tier Valorant betting odds, you’re at the right place. Before heading into predictions, we’ll give a brief team analysis and highlight some of the favourites in this event. With that being said, let’s jump right in!
The Group Stage Clash
The VCT Stage 2 Masters group stage is where it all begins, and where it all ends for some of the unfortunate teams. Two groups of four teams each will fight to stay in the game and avoid early elimination. July 10th is when we’ll see all the opening matches, followed by the Winners’ Match, Elimination Match and finally, culminating in the Decider Match.
In the end, only two teams from each group will pass the test and join the remaining four top seeded teams, who will be skipping the group stage entirely and heading straight into the playoffs.
Despite being the first half of the event, the group stage has some incredibly promising matchups and plenty of opportunities to make some quick cash through Valorant bets.
What Teams Should You Go For?
Deciding on who to bet in major tournaments such as this one can be a bit tricky. It’s not always so clear as to who might win, and even if you had a pretty good hunch, the other team can throw a curveball and mess your plans entirely. Still, it’s always better to arm yourself with proper knowledge before setting out on your betting adventures.
Things get a bit easier in this tournament, given how the tournament starts with just four opening matches. And we’re here to tell you which teams you should be paying close attention to.
Group A
The obvious favourite in group A is OpTiC Gaming, without a shadow of a doubt. These guys are simply brilliant in terms of playstyle and the overall season performance so far. And don’t let the fact of them not being a top seed team fool you, this is OpTiC’s hidden strategy. While they may often lose the regional Challengers, despite getting to the very end of each tournament, they make it up by winning the Masters, which is far more important in the long run.
Not only do we expect OpTiC to close the group stage without breaking a sweat, we are confident they have what it takes to win the event altogether. Their opening match against Guild Esports could be a bit tricky, given Guild’s stellar performance in EMEA recently. But overall, we believe OpTiC has this one in the bag, and the esports odds will surely also be in their favour.
Group B
This group’s first place will be a coin toss between DRX and FunPlus Phoenix. Both teams are excellent in their own rights, and both are expected to win in their opening matches.
DRX will be facing the Japanese representatives, Northeption, who have had a pretty crazy run in the Japan Stage 2 Challengers Playoffs, which led them here. However, DRX will most likely prove to be too big of a challenge for the aspiring Japanese squad.
DRX has been the dominant team in Korea in both Valorant Champions Tour seasons, but when it came to international tournaments similar to this one, they simply never really delivered. We’ll see if they’ll break the curse and push far into the playoffs this time.
FunPlus Phoenix will be battling against the Thai representatives, XERXIA, who have had a pretty solid season so far. XERXIA will have a tough time against FunPlus Phoenix, who will be looking to close the group stage as quickly as possible. This one should go to FunPlus Phoenix, unless something goes seriously wrong for them.
Special Mention
We’ll reserve this special mention for the Argentinian powerhouse, KRÜ Esports, who have shown in the past to be a force to be reckoned with, if underestimated. You’ll all probably remember how they stormed the VCT Champions 2021 and made it all the way to the semifinals, where they gave Gambit Esports a run for their money.
These guys can easily do the same thing again, if given the chance. KRÜ Esports will have to contend with OpTiC and Guild Esports, both of which are heavily favoured in group A, but there’s a realistic shot of KRÜ winning their opening match against LOUD and then pulling one hell of an upset in the Winners’ Match. Just a heads up – don’t sleep on these guys.
